“Jack has provided me with the tools and confidence to continue my healing journey.”
46 year-old Sam contacted us because she had been feeling unwell for a decade.
By her own admission, Sam had been quite “sickly” as a child and had struggled with eczema, recurring throat infections, and lots of antibiotics.
But it was the last ten years or so that her health had deteriorated to a worrying level, leaving her anxious about the future.
Sam listed the following symptoms in her client intake forms:
Sam had previously been following an herbal parasite cleanse, which had worked initially, only for her symptoms to return. Thereafter, she could find no solution.
We were certain Sam could quickly improve and feel much better than this. I referred her to Jack, my consulting partner, and they got to work in earnest.
Progress within one week
Sam made excellent progress right from the start, and this was largely thanks to some important dietary changes.
Specifically, Jack coached her to reduce her intake of flax seeds and vegetable oils, which are usually deemed to be “healthy”.
In fact, Sam is a nutritional therapy student and had been taught the opposite of what she really needed to be doing to get well.
Interestingly, as soon a she added flax seeds back in, her symptom worsened again.
Here’s what Sam had to say about her improvement in the first week of her programme:
“Feeling so chuffed and just wanted to share that my symptoms are really improving by the day. Thank you so far… Goodness – this really is food for thought! It turns pretty much everything I have been taught on its head! Fascinating.”
Sam’s initial stool test
Sam had already done a stool test, but she hadn’t improved, despite taking a lot of supplements.
Here’s what the stool test result looked like:
You can see from the snippets below that Sam’s digestive system was playing host to Candida (a fungal overgrowth) and a parasite called Blastocystis hominis.
You can also see that one of the main “good bugs,” Lactobacillus, was too low (note that the test results haven’t come out with great quality).
Both Candida and Blastocystis hominis are associated with loose stools and other “irritable bowel” type symptoms.
These organisms irritate the gut’s immune system and lead to changes in digestive function.
Low levels of friendly bacteria can also contribute to these symptoms, and low friendly bacterial levels are sometimes responsible for allowing bad bugs such as Candida to overgrow.
From the next snippet, we can also see that SAM clearly had some inflammation in her intestine, as denoted by the high calprotectin level.
Jack added some specific herbal protocols to help SAM rebalance her digestive bugs, with the goals being to remove Candida and Blastocystis while improving her Lactobacillus level.
Sam and Jack worked together for several months, with Sam’s symptoms improving steadily during that time.
Sam’s second stool test:
After five months of work, Sam did another stool test. The results, again shown below, revealed the following improvements:
How much did Sam’s symptoms improve?
I’m sure you’ll agree that having a set of greatly improved lab test results means nothing if you don’t feel better!
Thankfully, Sam did feel much better. Here’s how she had improved:
As you can see, Sam’s results were really, really good. Here’s the thank you message she sent Jack.
“Thank you Jack for all the help and support you have given me with my health. No matter how much knowledge you have it isn’t always easy to heal yourself! Jack has provided me with the tools and confidence to continue my healing journey. I have learnt to listen to my body and adjust my foods accordingly on the way to better health.”
You can achieve the same results as Sam
As you’ve read, Sam had been trying to heal herself using some of the tools she had learned in nutritional therapy class.
Unfortunately, what she had learned wasn’t quite what her body needed.
Even though she’d done a stool test, the diet Sam was eating, along with the parasite cleanses, weren’t the right for for her needs at the time she was experiencing symptoms.
Sadly, many people battle on this way in a vain attempt to improve their health, when a little outside advice and some ongoing support might be more appropriate.
