Hi there!
Welcome to week 4 of the H. pylori Home Recovery Plan, in which we’ll discuss a really controversial topic: polyunsaturated oils.
PUFAs, as they’re known, are consumed in very large amounts these days.
They’re mainly found in vegetable oils, which means they’re in nearly all processed foods.
PUFAs are also used a lot in cooking.
Whilst they were initially brought to market because of the saturated fat – cholesterol – heart disease theory (which is WRONG), these oils have now been shown to cause havoc in the gut and rest of the body.
Specifically, these oils suppress digestion and immune function and you want these systems working properly to eliminate digestive bugs like H. pylori, optimise your resistance AND reduce your risk for serious diseases.
Enjoy the lesson!
Here is your action guide for removing PUFAs from your diet (or at least minimising them).

I recommend you you also read this article by Dr. Mary Enig, who has written a comprehensive book called “Know Your Fats” and is one of the world’s leading authorities on fats and oils.
You can read the article called ‘The Oiling of America” here.
It is also worth reading some of Dr. Ray Peat’s articles at his website:
Unsaturated Vegetable Oils: Toxic
Ray’s articles aren’t the easiest to read, but they give you an idea of the problems associated with all these ‘golden vegetable oils’.
As ever, we’re here to help, so please feel free to email any questions you may have to info@hompesmethod.com.
Best,
Dave.
