Why you get bloated and what to do about it

Part two – Bad Foods

Summary

  • It’s not easy to define a good vs. a bad food because we all react to foods in different ways.
  • However in the context of bloating, too many carbohydrates and sugars can be a problem.
  • Bacteria and yeast/fungal organisms can ferment these foods.
  • Fermentation produces gas and the gas builds up and creates bloating.
  • Reducing your intake of these foods can be really helpful in controlling bloating: cereals, breads, cakes, biscuits, pasta, crackers, sweets, desserts, etc.
  • Eliminating cow’s milk and other dairy products can also help.
  • Finally, fruit and root veggies can also worsen bloating in some people, so reducing these mat also be helpful.
  • The problem with this is that you can end up without anything to eat and this is where you really need to consider appropriate lab testing so you can pinpoint the cause of the problem.
