Part 3 – How food and diet can cause heartburn and acid reflux

Summary

  • Many people have heartburn because of their diet
  • A wide variety of foods can contribute to, or even be the main cause of, heartburn
  • Foods can irritate and inflame the stomach lining leading to pain and burning
  • Or, they weaken the lower esophageal sphincter and encourage acid to splash back into the esophagus where it causes irritation and pain
  • It is worth avoiding all the common offending foods described in the video for one week to see if you get relief from your symptoms
  • If the symptoms persist, I recommend deeper investigation into the underlying cause (e.g. H. pylori, SIBO, Candida, parasites, hiatal hernia, stress, etc.
  • Remember that heartburn can lead to major problems years down the line if it is not properly dealt with
