Parasites aren’t just a tropical problem

Each week we hear from people who’ve been told by their doctor that their digestive symptoms couldn’t possibly be caused by parasites in their gut. “Parasites are tropical problems“, they say. “You can only have parasites if you’re vomiting or have serious diarrhoea“, they claim. Both statements are wrong. A new report released this week found a tiny parasite called Cryptosporidium (let’s call it ‘Crypto’ for short) in the Arctic! Here’s what the article in Nature News said: “Cryptosporidium, a potentially dangerous intestinal parasite common in the tropics, has been spotted for the first time in the Arctic. This...

Benefits of a home stool test (case study)

Hello – it’s Dave here. You have asked lots of questions recently about how a stool test from us differs from the ones your doctor might give you, what the benefits are and how it can help you feel better, faster. You’ll see how the test was able to find a ton of stuff that the docs had missed. Click here if you’d like to learn more about a...

Can probiotics cure H pylori?

I haven’t seen any conclusive study data showing that probiotics alone can cure H pylori. BUT, a 2015 review paper showed that using probiotics alongside standard triple therapy improved eradication rates and reduced the side effects of treatment. (1) That’s pretty cool. BUT there are caveats to using probiotics, and I want you to watch this video so I can explain what they are and how I recommend you use probiotics. OK, so my experience using probiotics is mixed. Some people do fantastically well but some folk feel worse. It depends on many factors, including nutrition, SIBO, parasites, and...

How H pylori causes problems for kids

Whatever you do, please don’t ignore your children if they frequently complain of digestive problems, if they catch frequent colds, or have other ongoing health complaints. Children are mini adults, so any effect H pylori has on adults can be felt by kids, too. Possibly more problematic is the fact that H pylori might well contribute to growth abnormalities in children due to nutrient deficiencies (iron, B12, folate, zinc and so on). I feel it’s imperative not to ignore kids when they complain of tummy trouble as the problems could be setting them up for health challenges throughout life....

Can H pylori affect sperm, fertility and pregnancy?...

You’ve got to be kidding, right? H pylori – a stomach infection – and fertility? Give me a break! Well, it’s true – the scientific literature does show associations between H pylori, fertility and pregnancy. And this once again shows how your gut is intimately tied up with EVERY function in your body, and why it’s so important to get your entire gut health optimised, no matter what your doctor might tell you. H pylori and sperm health Remember in earlier videos when I told you it’s important to know which H pylori strain you have? Well some studies...
