How To Beat Bloating

Look, bloating isn’t hard to resolve once you know why it’s happening. Once you know why the bloating is there, you can overcome it relatively easy.

Without going into too much detail, the main reasons you feel bloated are:

Inflammation in your digestive system caused by some common and highly irritating foods, including gluten, cow’s milk (especially the lactose it contains), soy and sugar.

An overgrowth of bad bugs in your stomach and intestine. H. pylori, Candida and parasites can all cause bloating.

Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) can cause a lot of bloating and irritation.

When bad bugs overgrow in your gut, they cause fermentation; a natural product of fermentation is gas; when you have gas in your system, you become bloated.

Sugar, processed carbohydrate, fruit juices and other sugar foods can exacerbate this problem.

Low stomach acid levels, poor pancreatic function and depressed liver and gallbladder function can also cause bloating because you do not digest food properly. Undigested food provides a great source of nutrients for bugs in your gut, so they overgrow and cause fermentation, gas and bloating.

In nearly every cases of bloating – and I’ve worked with hundreds – some combination of the above six factors has been the culprit.

Simple Steps To Overcome Bloating

Step One – Change Your Diet

The first simple step you can take is to reduce your consumption of some of the key “bloating foods”. These are:

  • Processed grains
  • Gluten
  • Cow’s milk
  • Sugar and sweets
  • Alcohol
  • Processed fruit juices
  • Raw “above the ground” vegetables

In some cases this will completely resolve your bloating.

Step Two – What’s Lurking In Your Gut?

Low stomach acid, low digestive enzyme levels and a sluggish liver/gallbladder can also create a situation where you don’t digest your food properly.

Undigested food provides a breeding ground for bad bugs – they ferment the food you’ve eaten and you blow up like a balloon as a result.

I recommend you set time aside for eating, eat in a relaxed state and chew your food thoroughly (minimum 25 times per mouthful).
