I’m soooo excited to have an opportunity to share my knowledge on H pylori and digestive health with you.
It’s really humbling to be able to assist you, whether it’s just information you’re after, or specific advice about improving your digestive health, energy levels, mood and anything else that might be bothering you.
This blog post addresses a question I’m asked all the time by email and on social media, namely “What is H pylori?”
So let’s take a look…
Helicobacter pylori (H pylori) is a corkscrew-shaped bacterium that can spread out of control in your stomach.
It’s believed that most people carry a little bit of H pylori in their stomach, but problems occur when it overgrows and becomes what’s known as an H pylori infection.
Watch this video, titled “What is H pylori?”, and you’ll quickly understand what the fuss is all about.
Oddly, H pylori can cause zero symptoms in some people, but in others it can lead to gastritis, ulcers and possibly in a very small number of people, even stomach cancer.
When it’s causing problems, people generally report heartburn, acid reflux, chest pain, bloating, and maybe a lump in the throat.
But H pylori can also contribute to a vast number of symptoms that I’ve discussed in other videos, including constipation, diarrhea, irritable bowels (IBS), low energy, depression and anxiety, and skin problems such as rosacea and urticaria.
It can also contribute to problems with cardiovascular health such as high blood pressure and insulin resistance and, believe it or not, H pylori is associated with increase strokes and heart attacks.
As you may also be aware, H pylori is believed to cause stomach cancer in a small number of people.
I’m sure you’ll agree that, given its ability to cause so many problems, it’s important to seek answers to questions way beyond merely “What is H pylori” and explore how to make sure it is properly eradicated.
